Information about cookies
According to the new Electronic Communications Act, effective 1 July 2011, anyone who visits a web site with cookies must be informed what these cookies are used for and how cookies can be avoided.
A cookie is a very small text file that is stored on a visitor’s computer. Cookies are used by many web sites in order to give the visitor access to certain functionalities. The information in a cookie can be used to track a visitor’s surfing on the Internet.
There are two types of cookies. The first type saves information in a file on the computer even after the visit to a web site has been terminated and the browser has been closed. Such cookies are used, for example, with functionalities which tell a user what has been changed since the last time the user visited the web site. The other type of cookies is called session cookies. While a user is visiting a web site, a session cookie is temporarily stored in the computer’s memory, for instance in order to track the visitor’s language selection. Session cookies are not stored on the computer’s hard disk, and disappear when the web browser is closed.
Tredje AP-fonden’s (“AP3”) web site uses only session cookies. No information about the visitor or how the visitor has used the web site is stored in the cookie.
Any visitor who does not accept the use of cookies on AP3’s web site can either inactivate cookies in the web browser settings, or close the web browser by clicking the box in the upper right-hand corner. Inactivating cookies might affect certain functionality on the web site.
