AP3 collaborates with other investors with the purpose to increase possibilities to influence the companies the fund invests in. Below is a selection of the initiatives and cooperations AP3 is a part of.
Council on Ethics – Swedish National Pension Funds
The Council on Ethics is a collaboration between the first, second, third and fourth Swedish national pension funds with focus on influencing companies to operate in a more sustainable way.
PRI (Principles for Responsible Investment)
The purpose of the PRI (a UN initiative for responsible investments) is to bolster companies’ and investors’ responsible behaviour in ethical and environmental issues. PRI serves as a framework for investors in their daily tasks of integrating ESG into asset management and in their own organisations.
Paris Pledge for Action
Paris Pledge for Action was signed by AP3 before COP21 in December 2015. The initiative implicates that investors, companies, unions and NGOs confirm commitments for a stable and safe climate and will take actions to support this development.
CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project)
CDP is an international collaborative project to reduce companies impact on the environment and raise awareness of climate change. To effectively reduce emissions, companies must know what they are releasing. The first step is to start measuring and documenting emissions.
EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency)
EITI is an initiative for transparent disclosure in extraction industries, first and foremost oil companies. Together with other international investors, the Fund supports EITI, which sends a message to countries and companies with extractive business operations that shareholders value a clear and transparent disclosure of revenues.
IIGCC (Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change)
AP3 is a member of the investment group IIGCC, which collaborates on climate change issues for European investors. The is to raise investors’ voices on climate change and to engage companies, government authorities, and other investors in this topic.
Hållbart Värdeskapande is a cooperation between 17 of Sweden’s largest institutional investors and Nasdaq OMX Stockholm. The cooperation was initiated 2009 when Swedish investors and owners of Swedish companies identified a need to further highlight the importance of companies working in a structured way with topics related to sustainability.
ICGN (International Corporate Governance Network)
ICGN is a global cooperation with the objective to raise the standard of corporate governance. The initiative aims to increase the power of shareholders through more votes in shareholder meetings combined with a stronger position in relation to company management. Also, their mission is to inspire effective standards of corporate governance to promote efficient markets worldwide.
The Montreal Carbon Pledge
AP3 supports the Montreal Carbon Pledge and has commited to measure and publicly disclose the carbon footprint on an annual basis. The Montreal Carbon Pledge is supported by the PRI and UNEP FI.
Transition Pathway Initiative
In 2016 AP3 and other international investors signed TPI adressing the climate adaptation for listed companies. The initiative is operated and funded by Church of England and Environment Agency Pension Fund in cooperation with London School of Economics Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and Environment.
