Jonas Thulin becomes AP3’s new Chief Investment Officer

Third Swedish National Pension Fund (AP3) has appointed Jonas Thulin as its new Chief Investment Officer. Jonas is currently Head of Asset Management at Erik Penser Bank and will take up the position at AP3 by 4 January 2024 at the latest.

Jonas has a background at Nordea, where he was Head of Asset Allocation, Head of Global Alpha Strategy and Head of Strategy and Research. He has also worked in several capital markets around the world, including in London and New York. Jonas has also been a lecturer and supervisor in economics at Stockholm University in Sweden and the University of Queensland in Australia.

About Third Swedish National Pension Fund:
Third Swedish National Pension Fund (AP3) is one of five funds that manage capital on behalf of the Swedish state pension system. The fund is tasked by Parliament with generating maximum possible benefit for the state pension system by achieving strong investment returns based on responsible management of the fund capital.

At 30 June 2023, the fund had SEK 491.5 billion under management and an annual return of 5.5% after costs. For the most recent five-year and 10-year periods, AP3 has achieved average annual returns of 8.1 percent and 9.3 percent, respectively.
